Delightful!

I have always been grateful for my kids, but lately the Lord has given me a heart full of absolute DELIGHT in them! I have been drawn to simple ways of being with them instead of doing something alongside or around them. It is funny how the Lord works in similar ways among His people - I just read Meredith's post (http://thecroslandcapers.blogspot.com) as I was writing this and was amazed at how similar (though different as we are different) it was to what I am writing! And without even talking to her! I just Love my God!

Anyway, as I was saying... This past week, Ethan and I have been spending time before bed together. He has been reading to me (WOW! What a change - he's certainly growing up) a novel he has enjoyed and wanted to share with me. It has been a great time together for us.

Teresa and I have been doing puzzles together. This one we finished this week - it is almost as big as she is! It is 3 feet long and 1,000 pieces! The pieces are "normal" size, which is why it is so HUGE!

Elayne asked me to teach her the recorder, so I taught her "Mary Had a Little Lamb" today. She can play the whole thing all by herself already. Then we figured it out on her violin. It was so fun!

We did have one near tragedy today though. I insisted that everyone get their hair trimmed today. Edward does all of our haircuts (Except I got mine trimmed a couple of weeks ago by Sarah), and I assured Elayne that he would only take off a small bit. Well, the small bit turned out to be quite a bit and she was traumatized! Oh my goodness - you would have thought the world was ending. But thankfully I was thinking fast and mentioned that Lucy (her favorite Narnia character) had short hair in the first movie and that she looked just like her. Well that was all it took and now she is delighted - so much that she asked if we could cut it every week so that it would stay short! So much for the end of the world. She does look pretty cute though!
