Family Bike Ride

Our Family Bike Trip
to Lyon's Park - 23 miles
(and yes, Elayne rode the WHOLE way)

On Wednesday, May 27th, our family rode our bikes to Lyon's park. On the way we had a spectacular view of the snow covered mountains behind fields of spring flowers - GORGEOUS!

Elayne rode on her new purple bike (Teresa's old one). It is a 20" bike that helps her go faster without as much work!

There they go! What a troup.
Ethan was way ahead of us.

We made a short stop along the way to visit the Farm. Elayne had never been!

They fed many animals. Here the girls are feeding the goats. That black one there actually stole Elayne's bag and ate the whole thing - bag and all!!
Ethan swears it is the same goat that ate his bag when he was 3!

There were horses too!
This is my favorite bridge in Fort Collins. It is about 1/2 mile long (I think) and runs over the Cache la Poudre River. I LOVE it!

These are movies of my favorite bridge.

Watch carefully as Elayne almost runs right into my bike while I am filming.

When we arrived, there was a woman just finishing up a horseback ride. We went and asked if we could take pictures of her beautiful horse and she said, "Would you like your daughter to be in the picture too?" Of course, Teresa was elated. But then Teresa got the surprise of her life (she hasn't stopped talking about it yet!). Trish (the horse owner) asked Teresa, "Would you like to hold the lead?"

So here is a picture of Teresa in absolute delight, holding the lead to a REAL horse. A Morgan (which Ethan is proud to say that he guessed it the first time!) named Maggie.

After we got the coals for dinner going, we all took our places for quiet time. One of the main things we do on our family trips is take time to be with the Lord in His creation. It is always so peaceful and full of joy!

Edward, Teresa, and I were at the table.
Elayne was by a tree.
Ethan chose a different tree.

After quiet time and dinner, we relax by the river.
Edward entertained us with his recorder - very enjoyable for us and him too.

The kids prefer a bit more active form of relaxation, mainly river romping!

It was a long ride, but well worth it! Everyone enjoyed the Lord, each other, and the beauty of the Creation. And Elayne made her maiden bike excursion - 23 miles!

We praise God for His beauty, His love, and the joy His life brings.

Congratulations to Elayne! I don't know that I could have done that.
Tell Ethan I remember the goat eating his bag of food and I remember the look on Ethan's face when it happened. Love, Grammy

And Teresa looked beautiful standing by the horse. I'm sure she was thrilled. Too bad she didn't get to sit on it. Love, Grammy
