Our 13th Anniversary - Celebrated

Edward and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary this last Friday. Our actual anniversary was on March 9th (during lent). We were given tickets to a "Culinary Extravaganza and Wine Tasting Affair" by Edward's most generous boss, Julie. It was something we would never have done otherwise but both enjoyed very much! We expected to ride our bikes, but that Friday happened to bring a "Winter Storm Warning for Northern Colorado including Fort Collins" and was raining and snowing quite fiercely. Jeanne was staying in for the evening and let us (well begged us) to use her car. She also graciously took our picture on the way out. Here we are by the car in the snow/rain.

Here we are at the event after getting our name tags and wine glasses. We got to keep the glasses!

The set-up was very fancy. Decorated tables and tulips.

Here is Edward sitting while we waited for it to begin. These are study chairs (the event was at the Front Range Community College Student Center), the little tables spun over in front of the seat for studying.

There were several very nice restaurants from around town that were there serving food.

Here is the spread from Suheiro's - a Japanese restaurant downtown. They had various types of sushi available.

This is the Prime Rib from the Moot House. I got this picture for Teresa because of the horse decoration.

This table was done by the Front Range Culinary students. There were some very good and unique things to choose from here.

I am a bit upset with myself for not picturing my favorite food spread. It was two HUGE salmon that had been skinned and boned and then "re-scaled" with very thin slices of cucumber! It was very impressive looking - and quite tasty too!

This is one of the four wine tables they had. All of the tables had a vast variety of different wines for sampling. Edward liked that there were four tables so that we could sample many wines without going back to the same person every time. They had a big bucket to dump any that you didn't like (for shame, we did NONE of that!) and also to rinse your glass with water and dump the water into (we did do that however). There were many VERY good wines that we tasted.

They had a Jazz band playing in the background that really topped off the atmosphere very nicely.

Since the kids were spending the night at various places (Ethan was at Grandma and Grandpas; Teresa was with the Penrods; Elayne was with the Schroeders), Edward made us Lattes and then we went out for breakfast.

Here is Edward at his espresso machine.

We decided to ride since the weather had turned mostly to rain and it had warmed up quite a bit. It was a very nice ride. (The timer feature on my new camera works very well - and it has a very cute little 'sproing' sound while it waits for you to get ready).

This is the restaurant. It is called Lucille's. It is a very small but popular restaurant by the Lincoln Center.

I had a large waffle and Edward had breaded trout with poached eggs in a berinaise sauce. The whole time was very enjoyable.
